The Research Behind Reading at the Right Level

LexiStride is built on the Lexile Framework and the broader science of level-matched reading practice — not a theory of our own. Here's what independent research and large-scale studies have found about matching students to text at their exact reading level.

Federally Reviewedindependent evidence review

Vetted Outside Any Single Vendor

The Department of Education's independent research clearinghouse reviewed level-matched, individualized reading practice programs and found positive effects on reading comprehension — corroboration that doesn't come from a vendor's own marketing.

+12 ptspercentile gain for struggling readers

The Readers Who Need It Most, Gain the Most

Struggling readers using individualized, level-matched practice gained roughly 12 percentile points more than peers who didn’t. Students following best-practice, level-matched reading were more than twice as likely to exceed expected performance.

Matched Text, Measurably Easier to Read

When second-grade students were matched to books at their individually measured reading level, 93% read that book with oral reading accuracy above 90% — direct evidence that level-matching produces a genuinely readable, appropriately challenging experience.

The Lexile Framework has been independently examined in more than 1,000 research studies across 25 U.S. states over nearly four decades.

93–97% accuracy

Meta-analyses define this word-accuracy range as the research-backed "instructional level" — the challenge zone where reading practice improves fluency fastest.

ABOUT LEXISTRIDE

California, USA

Built by educators.
Driven by results.

LexiStride is a California-based EdTech company created by educators, admissions consultants, and language specialists with more than 20 years of experience helping students succeed in competitive academic environments.

Across the United States, Asia, and Latin America, our team has helped learners strengthen academic English, build advanced reading skills, and prepare for demanding international and university admissions exams—including students who have achieved SAT scores above 1500 and TOEFL scores beyond 105.

Over those two decades, one challenge became impossible to ignore: students had access to more practice questions than ever, but very few tools actually taught them how to become stronger readers. LexiStride was built to change that.

By combining adaptive reading technology, AI-powered learning, vocabulary development, Reading DNA analytics, and measurable progress tracking, we created the reading system we wished our students had—one that helps them improve every day, not only before an exam.

FAQ

Find answers to the most
common questions about LexiStride.

How does LexiStride determine my reading level?

Students begin with an adaptive placement assessment. LexiStride then recalculates progress through ongoing reading performance and quarterly testing so recommendations stay matched to the student's current Lexile level.

Can LexiStride help me prepare for the SAT or TOEFL?

LexiStride strengthens the reading comprehension, vocabulary, inference, reference, and information-analysis skills that support standardized-test performance. Dedicated SAT/TOEFL prep modes are part of the longer-term product roadmap.

Can teachers create classes and monitor students?

Yes. Teacher and administrator tools include individual student reports, class-wide analytics, Lexile growth tracking, Reading DNA profiles, bulk student upload, notifications, and progress monitoring.

Is LexiStride available on mobile devices?

The current platform is browser-based and works on responsive web layouts. A dedicated iOS and Android mobile app is listed as a next-phase product initiative.

How often is new content added?

LexiStride can generate fresh AI-assisted articles from current news sources, with administrators controlling Lexile levels, topics, and source selection. This keeps reading material current instead of relying only on a static archive.
